"They nod in class, then freeze in the test."
Understanding a worked example isn't the same as doing it under exam pressure. We drill the exact question styles IEB and Cambridge love to ask, because we answered them ourselves, recently.
IEB & Cambridge · Grade 8–12 · Online, anywhere in SA
Your child learns from a university Maths or Engineering student who sat in their exact seat, remembers what was confusing, and is young enough that your teen will actually listen.
Sound familiar?
Understanding a worked example isn't the same as doing it under exam pressure. We drill the exact question styles IEB and Cambridge love to ask, because we answered them ourselves, recently.
Teenagers tune out parents and teachers. A 19-year-old engineering student who aced the same paper? That's a different conversation. Think cool older sibling, not another teacher.
Every lesson is online. No driving, no waiting in the car, no rushing across town after school. Your child logs on from their desk.
Step 1
Each tutor takes a small number of students so every child gets real attention. When they're full, they're full.
No tutor offers that subject yet. WhatsApp us and we'll find someone.
How it works
Read their real marks and pick the one that fits your child's subjects and language.
Pay R50 to reserve your spot. It's fully credited to your first lesson, so it really costs nothing.
Within 24 hours. They learn what your child needs and build a schedule around your family, not ours.
After each lesson you get a short progress report, and your card is charged R300/hour. Stop anytime.
What you get after every lesson
After every single lesson, your tutor sends you a 3-line WhatsApp: what they covered, how your child did, and what's next. You see the progress without having to ask.
Choose your tutor →Hi Mrs Naidoo 👋 Lesson update for Liam:
✅ Covered: Essay planning + one past-paper comprehension (IEB 2023 P1)
📈 How he did: Planned a full essay in 10 minutes on his own. Big jump from last week.
🎯 Next: Poetry analysis. He'll draft an intro before Thursday.
17:42 ✓✓Our promises
If we're as good as we say, these cost us almost nothing. If we're not, you shouldn't pay.
Not a fit? You don't pay for it. We'll match you with another tutor or refund your R50. No questions, no awkwardness.
Have at least 3 lessons before a test. If the mark isn't higher than the one before you started, your next lesson is free.
The fair-play fine print →We write university exams too. If your tutor has one, a second tutor who already knows your child's progress steps in. No lost weeks.
Honestly
We'd rather tell you our weaknesses now than have you discover them later.

Why we started
A couple of years ago we were sitting the same IEB and Cambridge papers your child is preparing for. We each finished with an average above 85% and went on to study Maths and Engineering.
What helped us most wasn't a textbook or an expensive tutoring centre. It was an older student who'd just done it, who explained things the way we thought, and who made it feel possible.
So we started The 85 Club to be that person for your child. No corporate. No franchise. Just three students who are very good at this, and who still remember what it felt like to be stuck.

Questions
Every tutor is personally known to us, and we check their ID, matric results and university registration. Lessons happen on Google Meet or Zoom, you're always welcome to sit in, and we'll record any lesson on request.
You pay R50 today to book your Match Call, securely through Paystack. Your card is saved by Paystack (we never see your card number). After each lesson we charge R300 per hour. Your R50 comes off your first lesson, so lesson one costs R250.
Your tutor WhatsApps you within 24 hours. They'll chat to you (and your child) about what's going on in the subject, upcoming tests and goals, and set up a schedule that fits your week.
A laptop or tablet, a stable internet connection, and ideally a pen and paper (or a tablet with a stylus). We share a digital whiteboard during the lesson.
That's what our exam-season backup guarantee is for. Another tutor who's been kept up to date on your child's progress steps in, so you never lose a week.
Of course. Just WhatsApp us. If it's after the first lesson, that first lesson is free too.
Yes. Choose a tutor marked "Afrikaans" or select Afrikaans as your preferred language when you book.
Yes, we can help with LO projects and tasks. Just tick it when you book.
Anytime. There's no contract. Because you pay after each lesson, you never pay for a lesson you didn't have. We just ask for 24 hours' notice to move a lesson.
R50 today. Credited to lesson one. Love it or it's free.
